Smart Infant Carrier Red Dot Award 2020 Winner
On July 2020, Red Dot Award jury named ZAAFDesign the winner of Red Dot Award – Design Concept 2020 in Childhood. The award recognizes the Smart Infant Carries for high design quality, innovations, and functionality.
“In the process of conceiving the Smart Infant Carrier, the challenge was to create a compact product, easy to carry, made of fewer elements, more affordable and at the same time complying with the highest safety standard.”
The ISOfix connectors, designed on purpose for this car seat using light weighted and highly resistant material, are placed inside a lodging that opens when the ISOfix connectors are used in the car and close when the Infant Carrier is used outside the car. In this way, it avoided the use of an ISOfix base.
Moreover, besides occupying less space in the car, this Infant Carrier further reduces the risk of misuse since there are no fixed elements that remain installed and unchecked for a long time. Instead, the end-user needs to repeat and check the installation every time the Smart Infant Carrier is placed inside the car.
The Smart Infant Carrier is also equipped with a simplified and compact Stroller that opens and closes with one hand operation and it fits easily in the trunk of any car.
The simplification of the stroller relies on the fact that the handle of the Infant Carrier is retractable and it can be used to push at the same time the Stroller.
A total of 4,170 entries from 52 countries around the world were submitted in the Red Dot Award: Design Concept category, whereby the ZAAFDesign Smart Infant Carrier project was one of only 188 concepts to win a Red Dot Award. Putting this into perspective only 5.5% of entries win an award, making ZAAFDesign achievement in the Red Dot Award: Design Concept an outstanding feat of accomplishment.
